An awning can be one of the most comfort-providing appendages on your RV. It shades you from the sun, provides cover from summer showers and creates additional living space outdoors. However, since an awning is made of fabric and spends much of its life exposed to the weather, it needs regular care and maintenance. Here are a few tips to keep your awning in top condition:
- Clean it regularly to remove dirt and debris.
- Lower one end so rainwater doesn’t pool.
- Don’t leave your awning unattended during inclement weather.
- Use tie-downs or ground anchors when possible.
- Treat moving metal parts with silicone spray lubricant.
- Check mounting hardware for loose screws.
- Use a patch kit to repair any holes or tears before they grow.
