Lobby of Lazydays Tucson
After reading with fascination about the grand opening of Lazydays Tucson, my wife and I eagerly anticipated our first visit to the new location. So at the end of our work-camping season in Yellowstone, Jolene and I packed up and drove to Arizona. From the moment we arrived – when we pulled up to the front gate and received a warm “Welcome to Lazydays” – I immediately felt at home.
Planning or contemplating your own journey to Lazydays Tucson? You won’t be disappointed. Every aspect of our extended visit – from the RV Campground, to Parts and Service, to Sales – left us with a positive impression. And I’m happy to share those impressions with you here, so you’ll know what to expect when you make your way to to the Southwest branch of “Florizona”:
RV CAMPGROUND
Just as at the main entrance, we received a very warm greeting when we checked into the campground. At the reception desk, Vicki and Jelayne greeted us and set us up with a campsite. The sites are a nice size, and the pull-through design makes for easy parking. Not only are the camping spots very clean and level, but they also boast a variety of citrus trees. I have a grapefruit tree on my site. Each space offers 50- or 30-amp service, good water pressure, and a nice patio table and chairs.
Outdoor patio spaces give you the opportunity to take in the great desert air.
The campground offers many communal facilities and amenities, including:
Laundry Room – I believe this is the cleanest laundry room I have ever been in! The washers and dryers can be fed with quarters or – and this was a first for us – paid for by a central debit-card reader. Just put in your card, touch the machine number(s) you’re using, and you’re all set. No looking for coins or playing change-machine roulette. But, wait – there’s more! You can text your machine number and a code to an address that is posted, and the machine will text you when it’s finished. You don’t have to hang around for a couple hours waiting for your wash or dry cycle to end. You do, however, have to fold it yourself.
Exercise Center – The on-site fitness room has all the equipment you’d expect: free weights, treadmills, ellipticals and more. All of it is clean and in perfect condition.
Pool and Jacuzzi – The main pool and jacuzzi are in a beautiful setting right by the clubhouse. (RVers will find an additional pool and jacuzzi at the far end of the campground, next to a second laundry center.) Both look very inviting, and I’m looking forward to taking advantage of them as soon as we get a warm day.
Pull up a stool and enjoy a great margarita!
Dog Park – The campground has a very nice enclosed area in which your pups can run free. Doggie cleanup bags are also provided for your convenience.
Clubhouse – This spacious building hosts an on-site restaurant and bar, where you can enjoy a breakfast buffet, lunch and dinner, as well as a happy hour. The breakfast buffet is wonderful; there are daily menu variations, but you’ll typically find scrambled eggs, breakfast meats, French toast, bagels, scones, toast and other breakfast foods. The service is great, too. For lunch and dinner, the restaurant offers daily specials plus a selection of standard menu items. Don’t miss prime rib night! The prices are very reasonable. There’s also a full bar that serves excellent happy hour margaritas, as well as a local microbrew called Florizona.
Billiards and good fun at the campground clubhouse.
Guest Lounge – Here you’ll find a pool table, some video games, books, magazines, an assortment of brochures for local attractions and very comfortable leather sofas. Plus, you can help yourself to complimentary Lazydays Blend coffee.
PARTS AND SERVICE
When we arrived at Lazydays Tucson, there were a couple of parts I needed; so one of my first visits was to the parts counter. Great folks there. They had one part I needed in stock, and the second arrived the following morning.
I also decided to have some service and maintenance done on my RV during our stay in Tucson. Service Advisor Jennifer Sykora extended yet another warm greeting and set up my appointment. The cracked windshield we acquired en route to Arizona was replaced with no issues; the work was done perfectly and when it was scheduled. I can’t say enough good things about the Parts and Service team.
SALES CENTER

Vintage teardrop in the lobby.
The sales lobby is decorated in Southwestern style, and features a vintage Jeep and teardrop camper. Reception there – like everywhere else on-site – is very warm and welcoming, and the sales lot is filling up. In true Lazydays fashion, the landscaping is very nicely and neatly done. The sales consultants are friendly and considerate; they’ll check in with you occasionally to see if you need assistance, but will let you browse in peace. When you do have questions, they are very accommodating.
LOCAL ATTRACTIONS
If you’ll be staying in the Tucson area for any length of time, you’ll want to check out some of the local attractions.
Saguaro National Park is close to Lazydays, and nature-lovers will find it well worth a visit. From inspiring saguaro cacti to ancient petroglyphs, this park presents the Southwest desert area at its finest. Visit http://www.nps.gov/sagu for information.

Saguaro National Park
The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is also nearby, and not to be missed. There are gems, fossils and minerals on display in the Earth Sciences Center, as well as enclosures for an extensive collection of live desert critters. This may be the closest you’ll ever to get to a mountain lion! You’ll also find coatimundis, javelinas, rattlesnakes and more, all easily seen and with detailed descriptions. There are also several dining options and a gift shop on-site. See http://www.desertmuseum.org for details.
Old Tucson is a frontier theme park that gives visitors a taste of life in the Old West. Here, you can see old movie sets and memorabilia, as well as be entertained by exciting live-action shows. Mosey on over to http://www.oldtucson.com to learn more.
If you’d like to venture beyond the on-site restaurant and bar at Lazydays, there are many options – from standard chains to local color. Visit the reception desk, and the staff will be happy to give you their recommendations. Ask about the Sonoran Dog – a bacon-wrapped, topping-smothered hot dog that is a Tucson specialty. Not for the timid! These dogs were even featured on television, including Travel Channel’s “Man v. Food” and “Food Wars” shows.
To say I am pleased with our stay at Lazydays Tucson is not doing this place justice. From our initial arrival at the gate, to the many experiences I’ve enjoyed on-site and off – it’s almost overwhelming. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit this new facility! Whether you’re traveling through on Interstate 10 or planning an extended stay in the area, this is the place to be.
