Weekly Tip #1
Washing the Awnings
Keeping your RV's awning clean is important and will extend the lifetime of that needed sun cover. Here is a simple solution to keep them working.
VINYL AWNINGS
1/4 cup of dish soap
1/4 cup of bleach
5 gallons of water
After the solution is well mixed in a bucket, scrub down the awning using a brush. After the awning is soaped up well, roll the awning up with the soap still sudsy for 5 minutes. Unroll and hose off. Let it dry before storing.
ACRYLIC AWNINGS
Simply, hose it off and let dry. DO NOT scrub.
Scrubbing could cause the water-retardant finish to be removed.

To clean an acrylic awning be sure to follow the procedure in tip#1. Hose off and allow to dry. If you use soap and water with a scrub brush you will need to reapply the water repellent. You should be able to find this spray at an RV parts store.

Bought an expandable handle brush to clean it from the roof and it still isn t long enough. Sounds dumb but this is an electric awning and it does not get very low to the ground...any suggestions?

Most acrylic awnings are also in a metal wrap. Do not scrub the acrylic awning.

After a 2300 mile trip, I wanted to wash the awning, so I opened it, took a break because it was hot weather, and before I got back to work, a gust of wind put it atop the RV...now a new, clean one is on order..just a freak of wind, but it happens.
