Did you know your smoke and LP detectors have an expiration date? It’s true; and just like the forgotten milk in the back of the fridge, these things can be devastating if overlooked. Each detector is stamped with a date letting you know when the unit expires, usually about five years. Even if the detector is still operating at the time of expiration, it will need to be replaced. Also, make sure to test your detectors regularly and replace the batteries as needed. These simple steps will allow you to travel and rest with peace of mind.
