Whenever you enter a new state on your travels, make the State Welcome Center or Visitor Center your first stop. It will save you time and money if you intend to explore the new area you have entered. Look for: State and/or local maps, list of campgrounds from primitive to RV resorts, discount coupons and promotional offerings, list of state and local attractions, scenic areas, schedule of state events, wildlife viewing areas, local bird list, and a restaurant guide along with senior and early diner discounts. Some welcome centers allow a free one-night stay giving you time to plan your route.
