Happy Holiday Campground
Convenient, off the beaten path and, complete with WiFi, Happy Holiday Campground in Rapid City became a hero for Len and Faith, and their top Woodall rating assures this campground will offer the same great service to you. Amenities at the campground include a heated pool, basketball courts, covered patios, a convenience store stocked with food, gas and souvenirs and much more. Nearby attractions include Mt. Rushmore, Sitting Bull Caverns, Bear Country and Reptile Gardens. Grab some grub and get a show to boot across the street at the Flying T Chuckwagon (see below).
Happy Holiday has room for RVs of all sizes. You can check them out at

Sheridan Lake Recreation Area
More rustic, lots without that “tinned-in” feel you get at some other campgrounds, Sheridan is run by the US Department of Forestry. They offer biking and hiking, boat rentals and a convenient launch, fishing a public marina and swimming. Beware—no electricity in this campground.
Call ahead for reservations, as spots fill up fast and some times require a minimum 3-day stay. 605.574.4402.
The Flying T Chuckwagon
Following one of the Old West’s most unique folk traditions, the Flying T Chuckwagon was established in 1979. Historically, chuck wagons were mobile mess halls, social centers and supply closets that accompanied cowboys on cattle drives. The Flying T serves up fun and food from mid May through September. They specialize in hearty western meals with all the trimmings. After dinner, stick around to be entertained by professional musicians offering cowboy ballads, country swing and bluegrass favorites.
