Steve Schriver, Sr. made telling stories fun and had a way of making my job a rewarding adventure. He was a human quote machine who said what he believed, and said it with heart. As I got to know him, I would often joke that he would probably make more sales if he would just break out of his shell and tell people how he really felt. “Listen,” he’d say with his famous smirk that endeared him to so many, “both of my customers are happy.”
It's funny how many people I ran into who took great pride in being one of Steve's happy customers.
When I first heard of his passing, I immediately recalled an interview we did in 2009 about being a part of the Lazydays family. During this brief session, Steve passionately spoke about what I now realize made him one of the most beloved partners at the world’s greatest RV dealership. This piece highlights his passion and hopefully leaves us with a reminder of why ‘Pops’ was truly an American original, who cherished his customers, loved his Lazydays family and wholeheartedly believed in the RV dream.
Here’s to you, Pops.
May the fish be hungry, the fairways wide and the residential style refrigerator’s freezer stocked with ice cream that’s as cold as the highest mountaintop.
