The 2010 Tiffin Allegro Bus
Two for the road: Father and son take a test-drive
There is a family owned business located in Red Bay, Ala. that makes quality luxury motor homes. They go by the name of Tiffin. Led by their father, Bob, who fathered the company in 1972, Tiffin has earned one of the finest reputations in the RV industry today.
Another family exists at Lazydays in Seffner, Fla. that sells quality motor homes. They go by the name Schriver. Led by father, Steve Sr., who in 1971 fathered a son, the team became two of the most knowledgeable sales consultants at Lazydays.
This is what happened when one family with a reputation for hard work and fun met another.
Steve ‘Pops’ Schriver, Sr.
10+ years RV sales experience
Former PGA Golf Pro
Former US Marine

Steve Schriver, Jr.

38+ years experience as Pops’ son
Claims he’s beaten Dad in golf (round in dispute)
2010 Tiffin Allegro Bus
Presented by Steve Schriver, Sr. and Steve Schriver, Jr.
LIVING AREA
Steve Schriver, Sr. enters the 2010 Tiffin Allegro Bus and double takes upon seeing his son, Steve, Jr. waiting for him.
SR
: Where’s Dana?
JR:
Vacation.
SR:
She goes on vacation and I’m left to do all the work?
JR:
That’s why I’m here. So you don’t lull the audience to sleep like you do your customers.
SR:
Listen, both of my customers are happy. The thing about my son is he’s real talented. I taught him everything he knows, I just haven’t taught him everything that I know.
JR:
(sarcastic)
Gee that’s a new one. Can we get on to talking about the Allegro Bus? One of the things I like about this coach is the woodwork. This new honey glaze finish gives the coach a warm look. Wives walk in and say ‘Wow!’ Husbands walk in and say ‘Wow!’ It has an antique look and people really like that.
SR:
Tiffin really has gone above and beyond upgrading the Allegro Bus for 2010. You’ve got full tile floor throughout the living area and all the way through the bedroom as an option.
BEDROOM
The Schrivers enter the bedroom.
JR:
When you look at Tiffin products, you’re looking at functionality and value. A lot of manufacturers, when they introduce king-beds, delete the nightstands on either side of the bed. The Allegro Bus gives you a nightstand that’s large enough for an alarm clock or a personal picture.
SR:
It’s a nice touch that makes people feel like they’re home when they’re traveling.
JR:
I was getting to that.
SR:
Well, I got to it. And the bed is a Select Comfort mattress, probably one of the most comfortable in the world. Everyone should have one as far as I’m concerned. I’ve had one in my home for the last 15 years and I have no problems with my back anymore. And that’s a blessing, ‘cuz back pain stinks.
You’ve also got a stackable washer and dryer as an option. People really like these, ‘cuz you can drive for longer periods of time and you don’t have to stop just to do laundry. My only recommendation, due to the fact that my wife and I made the mistake once—she used the stackable washer and dryer and overflowed the grey tank. We learned our lesson. You’ve got to be hooked up to city water when you do that, 'cuz you use a lot of water. So we flooded the coach, but we fixed it.
JR:
That’s something you didn’t teach me.
SR:
What? How to fix things?
JR:
No, how to flood them.
BATHROOM
Steve SR enters the bathroom.
SR:
This coach has a bath and a half, which is great for when you have guests. They can use the half bath, which leaves you to your privacy in the bedroom. In the master bath you have a good size shower, double sinks and a big closet.
KITCHEN
The Schrivers return to the kitchen.
JR:
Talking more about function, a lot of RVers look for kitchen space in an RV. My Dad might deny it and say that everyone likes room service and going out to dinner every night. But I think most people want kitchen space and this coach has it.
SR:
They’ve also got a residential refrigerator that you can actually keep your ice cream in. That’s important. What do you say we quit runnin’ our mouths and take this baby for a spin?
COCKPIT
Steve SR takes the helm in the driver seat, while JR buckles his seatbelt in the co-pilot chair.
JR:
This is the story of my life right here. It doesn’t matter if it’s a car, a golf cart, a boat or an RV... he has to drive.
(sigh)
Steve SR chuckles.
SR:
That’s because you learn by watching me do it first.
Steve SR turns the ignition. The mighty diesel engine comes to life with a roar then settles as the coach begins its journey.
SR:
This coach is so quiet. They’ve done a great job on the insulation. And I love the 55 degree turning radius. Driving this 43 footer is a piece of cake, because the turning radius makes it so easy to maneuver. I used to worry about driving the longer coaches. I used to run over curbs.
JR:
But not any more?
SR:
Not that I would admit.
The Allegro Bus merges onto the interstate with ease.
SR:
Entering the interstate is where our side cameras come in real handy. You don’t have any fears that you’re going to cut someone off.
JR:
It’s also nice that Tiffin gives you a separate monitor screen for your cameras instead of using just a single screen for cameras, GPS and everything else. Having split screens like this makes it a lot easier for the driver.
SR:
We’re cruising right now at 64 mph. That’s a good speed on the highway because that’s where you’re going to get your best gas mileage. At that speed, we’re in control of the coach. At 75 or higher, the coach controls you. The whole secret when you have an RV like this, with this much luxury is... you’re in no hurry. You can just go with the lifestyle. It’s the greatest lifestyle on this planet, especially when you get to take the grandkids. They LOVE RVing and always ask when I’m going to take them again.
JR:
It’s true. Tiffin is a great company that takes care of their customers just like Lazydays.
SR:
That’s why we’re a good match and we’re proud to be selling their products.
JR:
So do I get to drive now?
SR:
I’ll go in the back and strap myself down just to be safe. I don’t know about this younger generation.
JR:
Hey, we’re a product of your generation.
SR:
(laughing)
Where did we go wrong?

We bought a 2010 Allegro Bus from you in Sept and have visited you again and also Red Bay, Al. WE had a few glitches to work out, but we love it. We enjoy our relationship with Tiffin and Lazydays. WE really like the Crown Club and Evan Crader

We picked up a Phaeton in Florida Sept 08 and drove to Red Bay, sat down with Bob Tiffin after the factory tour and every good thing you here about the company is true. The quality for price is second to none. compare the solid wood cabinets & finish

No motor home should have TV in front overhead. Put TV in living area in a cabinet or on a wall and not next to dinette.

Black exterior colors are hot when sitting in the sun. Keep them light. Interior dark wood colors are terrible. Carpeting should be banned from all motorhomes vinyl sheet goods works well. We are not all rich.

I have had three Phaetons. I presently have a 2008 Phaeton, with a 360hp Cummins diesel. I recently had the fuel system adjusted and an undated TurboCharged added all at the expense of Cummins. Went to Colorado and back and got 11 miles /gas.

Mr Bob Tiffin gives you your moneys worth. I would urge anyone looking for a motor home to go to Red Bay and see for themselves. Take the tour w/ Mr. Red . Bob Tiffin makes a fine product and stands behind it. I promised Mr Tiffin I would buy a motor home from him. We now have a 40 Bus QSP in our driveway. It is FANTASTIC.

We have looked at the Tiffen and the Allegro is very nice. However, we purchased a 2007 Winnebago Journey and we don t know what a bug is....knock on wood. Great unit...great value. When it is time to upgrade, we will be sure to call Laxydays.

I have bought and fought bugs, in (3) brand new motor homes, for two years each. I swore that I would never buy new again. How do new Tiffens measure up. I am interested in a Phaeton or Allegro bus.

will it still take a year or two to debug it? Usually that is the time required to do jobs that should have been done at the plant but were not. How do you compare quality control at the plant vs other makes?

The Rear Bath is very roomy & has a full wardrobe closet. The 2010 models have stayed at the 09 price levels but come with now-standard items that used to be additional cost options. Hat s off to Tiffin for the value you get. Gotta trade up to one
