He guided his family on an RV trek that covered six state parks in nine days. He blogged. He tweeted. He did the brown water boogie. First time RVer Kyle Williams tells us about the highlights of his family’s adventure.

What was the best place you discovered on your trip?Black Rock Mountain State Park is at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and is the highest elevated state park in Georgia. When we hiked up to the highest peak, there was a plaque that tells you how high you are. My daughter thought that was pretty cool. Living in Florida most our lives, I guess we were all blown away. It was quite a view.
What did you learn as a first time RVer?
You can’t check the RV enough before you hit the road. You always miss something. Luckily we didn’t learn the hard way. You must also respect the black water. That’s something I did learn the hard way. When I posted my mishap on the blog, people welcomed me into “the club” and wanted to know what I did with my shoes after I did the Brown Water Boogie. I left them in the dumpster at the park. Respect the black water.

The simplest meals are always the most amazing.
Was there a moment where you felt at one with the RV lifestyle? We hiked down to a beautiful waterfall at Cloudland Canyon and had a picnic lunch. To be in such a beautiful place with your little girl and your wife and your dog... it was a magical RV moment.
How did Archie like the trip?
He loved it. When we were traveling he would sit in between the driver and co-pilot seats and look out at the scenery. We’d set up camp, roll out our carpet and he’d curl up like he was home. He’s officially an RV dog.
What was Kaileen’s favorite part of the adventure?
Kai, Archie, Mom and Dad around the sidecar.
We had set up camp and were getting a fire going at Amicalola Falls when a VW van pulled in to the grounds towing a WWII motorcycle with a side car. Kaileen and I went over to check it out and were greeted by the owner. He was a retired English teacher who gave disabled kids a ride in his side car. He asked Kai if she wanted to go for a spin. She did, and he took her around the campground a few times. Now she wants me to get one.
Your wife is always looking to make the world a better place. Did she while you were on your trip?
The Lazydays family threw us a bon voyage party with tons of food. Even after everyone at the party took some food home, we still had lots left. Kim had the idea to give the leftovers to the Salvation Army on our way out of town. We made a bunch of folks happy.

Did you have any breakdowns or difficulties?
The RV drove like a dream. However, I realized I made a mistake when I learned that none of the campgrounds we’d be staying at had Wi-Fi. I didn’t know how I was going to get online to connect to my blog, Facebook or Twitter. Then, I learned how to tether my Droid cell phone to get the Internet. It worked out great and is a great way for an RVer to get Internet on while they’re on the road.
What would you do differently next time?
We’d love to travel farther. I just wish we had more time to do more and experience more. We’ve got the RVing bug though. We’re already planning our next trip.
