When visiting national, state, or other public parks that have “first come first serve” campsites, don’t drive on by just because you see a “Full” sign at the park or campground entrance. Often, busy campground hosts are not current in updating their campground status and may actually have a vacancy. Also, some campgrounds have overflow parking good for one night—which then puts you at the top of the list for the next day—but they don’t usually post this information or mention it on their website. It always pays to ask before moving on.
