Yes, I wrote climate change. But, this climate change is the climate you travel into and work in. As a full timer and a work camper, the climate you drive into is up to you. Only warm climates, concerning storage space – you are set! However, for the rest of us who work in colder climates during portions of the year, we are faced with the issue of where to keep our wardrobe.

Storage is at a premium, remember this. Obviously we can’t keep the wardrobes we had as homeowners, just not enough room in an RV. When work camping you will typically wear some type of a uniform; for us, it has been a shirt with a logo. After a couple seasons you may have some extra clothing to take along. If you are going back to the same job, store it, if not, leave it.

Cold weather clothing; layering is key. Layering will give you multiple seasons of comfort. Sweaters, hoodies, windbreaker jacket, and for the cold nights a good down parka, these compress well for storage, and with a good shake out, will keep you warm on the coldest of evenings.

Let us not forget some gloves and mittens. For the shooters, either hunters or photographers, the half mitten/flaps are essential. Keeps your fingers warm, and then when you need them, the end flips over giving your fingers freedom to work. These will store right inside the jackets.

Storage: Vacuum storage bags will keep the bulky clothing to a manageable size. These are a great way to keep multi-season wardrobes clean and fresh while stored. Under bed storage is the logical place to store the unneeded seasons of clothing.

Consider public storage when you have more than just clothing to store in a spot convenient to your work camping location. This is a way to store a larger quantity of items, for instance, skis, snowshoes, snowmobile gear or other bulky gear. It could also be a great place to store your golf clubs, bicycles and scuba gear during the winter months.

Utilize Friends and Family. If you have a close friend or relative near your work camping location, or one you will be visiting between seasons, they may be willing to store your unneeded gear during the off season, approach this with caution. This is a huge favor!

Low budget approach. When getting ready for your cold weather season, catch the sales, visit thrift shops or yard sales to stock up. When your season ends, instead of storing this entire wardrobe, donate the bulky items to a local church, Goodwill or Salvation Army center. This will free up your storage plus you will have a charitable donation when tax time comes around.
